2015 UNCITRAL India Workshop on "Dispute Resolution in the Construction Industry" on 16th February 2015 at Mirza Ghalib Hall, Scope Converntion Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi (INDIA)
 

With a view to providing a focus on the emerging trends in international arbitration, to promote the effective use of Arbitration / Mediation and Institutional Arbitration/ Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) in Construction Industry, the “2015 UNCITRAL INDIA WORKSHOP ON DISPUTE RESOLUTION IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY “is being organised on Monday, 16th February, 2015 at Mirza Ghalib Hall, Scope Converntion Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi, jointly by UNCITRAL- RCAP and Construction Industry Arbitration Council (CIAC). A Brochure of the Workshop is attached which gives the background, topics to be covered and the programme of the Workshop. The international Faculty will be provided by UNCITRAL.

Construction Industry Arbitration Council (CIAC) was established in June, 2006 as a non-profit society jointly by Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) and Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) to provide an institutional mechanism for resolution of construction and infrastructure related disputes.

The Workshop will deliberate on the following topics, focusing on best practices and presenting case studies:-

  • *How to Promote the Use of Arbitration / Mediation
  • *UNCITRAL – Arbitration Rules, 2010 (Revised)- its Overview, Issues & Challenges.
  • *ODR- Suitability for Construction Industry.
  • *Institutional Arbitration – its Challenges & Benefits over Adhoc Arbitration.

The Workshop will be of great relevance to Industry, Arbitrators, Lawyers, Central/ State Government officials, senior officers from the public and private sector companies who have to deal with disputes in the construction and other sectors.

We are pleased to inform that the Hon’ble Minister of Law and Justice Mr D V Sadananda Gowda has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest at the Opening Session of the Workshop and Mr P K Malhotra, Secretary, Law will also be joining as the Guest of Honour.
